Domestic Terrorism and Targeted Violence
The Orleans County Sheriff’s Office has developed a plan to address the ongoing threat of domestic terrorism and targeted violence. The current threat level in our County remains LOW, however we remain vigilant, as incidents throughout the country continue to occur.

Domestic Terrorism: Violent, criminal acts committed by individuals and/or groups to further ideological goals stemming from domestic influences, such as those of a political, religious, social, racial, or environmental nature.

Targeted violence: Refers to violence that is premeditated and directed at specific individuals, groups, or locations. Perpetrators select their targets to achieve specific motives, such as the resolution of a grievance or to make a political or ideological statement.

Statistics have shown in many incidents of targeted violence warning signs were present, prior to these tragic events. Members of the community are an integral part of assisting the Sheriff’s office in our efforts to protect the public. Please help us by reporting any concerns to the Tip Line or in an emergency 911.
