Welfare Fraud Unit

Our  Welfare Fraud Investigation Unit investigates allegations of fraud in the Cash Assistance, Emergency Assistance, SNAP, Medicaid, Home Energy Assistance Program (HEAP) and Day Care programs. Some examples of fraudulent activities include:  failure to report income, failure to report resources  (bank accounts, cars, etc.), failure to provide accurate household composition, buying and selling of EBT cards, etc

The Department thoroughly reviews every fraud report received, and  when warranted, an investigation will commence. It is important that reports include as many details as possible, such as full names, addresses,  and contact information for persons involved, as well as a description of the suspected fraudulent activity. Sometimes we will need additional information for our investigation so it is important that you provide your own contact information to us. All reports are confidential and your identity will not be disclosed.  Due to confidentiality laws, the Department is unable to release information pertaining to the investigation.
