Hazard Mitigation Plan
What is a Hazard Mitigation Plan?
In the broadest sense, a hazard mitigation plan examines specific hazards counties and municipalities may face, and outlines a long-term strategy for mitigating against such threats. According to FEMA, hazard mitigation is the effort to reduce loss of life and property by lessening the impact of disasters. In other words, hazard mitigation keeps natural hazards from becoming natural disasters.
Public Documents
Orleans County has updated its Hazard Mitigation Plan (HMP). The HMP documents the county’s vulnerability to natural and man-made hazards, and the county’s, town’s, and village’s strategies to reduce that vulnerability.
See below for all sections of the Orleans County Hazard Mitigation Plan.
